For over twenty years, Runco International, Inc. has been a leading name in the home theater market and is credited with creating an industry where none existed. Founded by Sam Runco and his wife Lori in northern California in 1987, he later became a founding member of CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) and has received numerous recognitions for his contributions to the home theater industry over the years.

Prior to the incorporation of Runco International, the company was called Runco Video and introduced its first large screen projection system in 1970. The Cinemabeam was the first front projection television device that featured external convergence controls to allow for proper focusing of an image on a large screen.  Within a few years, Runco used a 15” television and a Fresnel lens, a type of compact lens originally developed by French physicist Augustin-Jean Fresnel for lighthouses, to project the image onto a wall. This became the turning point for Runco and the future of large screen  video entertainment.

In 1987 the company launched the Runco International HT (Home Theater) video projector. This fledgling technology underwent subsequent performance enhancements to better accommodate the growing video market, as well as the expectations of home theater enthusiasts, consumer electronics dealers and installers. Along the way, Runco acquired other brands, including Vidikron, as it sought to augment its distribution model and consumer brand recognition. By the early 1990s, Runco’s development resulted in expansion of its corporate offices and a much greater presence on the world scene.  Having become one of the most popular manufacturers of CRT projectors, they even began selling models produced by other companies such as Zenith Electronics, NEC, and Barco, all of which were heavily modified for enhanced performance in home theater applications.

Today, Runco’s DLP, 3D and LED Projectors occupy a pedestal all of their own. From Video Processors to Video Walls, from basic flat panels to large 4K models – all of the company’s offerings are regarded in a class of the highest acclaim.  At Revience, we are proud to offer the prestige and quality of Runco to our clients.
